ariail ethics reformBy most accounts, suspended House Speaker Bobby Harrell ruled the chamber with an iron rod. (A metaphorical one, that is.) How else can one explain the fact that, during a roughly 16-month investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division and a state grand jury, not a single House member would utter a peep of criticism of Harrell? As one lawmaker remarked when The Nerve asked him if he planned to support Harrell in the next election, “When the king has a guillotine to your neck, it’s kind of hard to go against the king.” Not exactly the same metaphor, but you get the point.
