  • Wow - special-interest legislation that benefits a company which paid out tens of thousands of dollars to lobbyists. Who woulda thunk it?

  • Rep. Bill Sandifer: "... it was not my bill."

As far as I'm concerned, it was everybody's bill who voted for it.

  • I would guess that the author of this (Chair of Senate Banking and Insurance) got campaign contributions as well as the others that helped get it passed. Might be good for a follow-up article on the campaign contributions from employees of the company that now gets special treatment.

  • ANONYMOUS,

That's a really good point. Early on in my reporting on this story, I checked on Rep. Sandifer's contributions. Nothing from Primerica came up. However, I checked on that before I had traced the complete revision of the bill, most of it anyway, to Sen. Thomas.

So you're absolutely right - it would be good to find out whether Sen. Thomas received any contributions from Primerica.

Thanks for suggesting that, and for your interest and feedback.
